A message from mefeedia

November 1, 2006

First, congratulations to all the 2006 Vloggie Nominees!

And a special thanks to Irina, the Podtech crew, and everyone else who helped organize this first ever Vloggie awards.

The Vloggies event is coming up in San Francisco on Nov. 4 and we here at mefeedia are really excited that so many of the videobloggers we’ve grown to love over the last two years are going to get some well earned recognition. It’s been an amazing ride, and we’re glad we could be a part of it!

We’ve taken the opportunity to put together a guide to 2006 Vloggie Nominess so you can browse and enjoy the latest video posts from all the nominees at your leisure. So many great vlogs so little time!

Nominations are closed, go VOTE!

The last day of voting for our favorite online videos and vlogs is Oct. 27 and then we get to party on Nov. 4 in San Francisco!

If you don’t vote, I’m gonna spank you!

We all pick our favorites at the Vloggies

October 10, 2006

The Vloggies Award Ceremony on Nov. 4 is a celebration of diversity and talent in online video and vlogs.

One half of the Vloggies award is a People’s Choice Award. We built a basic submissions engine so that everyone can nominate the videos and vlogs they like and then vote on those nominations to select the people’s choice in each category. The nominations process will close on Oct. 18 and the voting will begin on Oct. 20 and end on Oct. 27.

For the second half of the awards, we asked a group of experienced video watchers and video makers (and one snarky gossip columnist just for fun) to review the submissions and give us their favorites — we’re calling these picks the Favorites Award. Some of the people we asked have a lot of experiene with film, editing and online video. Others are longtime writers and photographers on and off the Internet, but all have a definite practiced eye.

No, they are not a perfect collection of “experts,” especially since on the new Web, we are all experts and we are all authorities. Long live the long tail!

Below is the list of the people we asked to pick the Favorites (in no particular order). I’ll post more detailed bios a little later. We may add a few more judges before the nominations process is over, but I’ll let you know if we do.
