The Vloggies Award Ceremony on Nov. 4 is a celebration of diversity and talent in online video and vlogs.
One half of the Vloggies award is a People’s Choice Award. We built a basic submissions engine so that everyone can nominate the videos and vlogs they like and then vote on those nominations to select the people’s choice in each category. The nominations process will close on Oct. 18 and the voting will begin on Oct. 20 and end on Oct. 27.
For the second half of the awards, we asked a group of experienced video watchers and video makers (and one snarky gossip columnist just for fun) to review the submissions and give us their favorites — we’re calling these picks the Favorites Award. Some of the people we asked have a lot of experiene with film, editing and online video. Others are longtime writers and photographers on and off the Internet, but all have a definite practiced eye.
No, they are not a perfect collection of “experts,” especially since on the new Web, we are all experts and we are all authorities. Long live the long tail!
Below is the list of the people we asked to pick the Favorites (in no particular order). I’ll post more detailed bios a little later. We may add a few more judges before the nominations process is over, but I’ll let you know if we do.
